An extract from Events of Electronic Music
It has been revealed that the mystery electronica music venue will have an exclusive theme to compete with the already widely known ROX branded electronic music event being held at Visions Night Club on the pier, on Sunday 19th September. Additional information is that someone from the Chichester University will be involved in the organisation and promotion of the mystery event and the audio hardware is likely to consist of a 1000 K amplifier and speakers. One final rumour is the event audience could get an additional treat as one of the artists is rumoured to be taking part in a choreographed dance routine.
*
I will be dancing with the DJ and any other dancer who shows up and wants to have a fun time dancing ![]()

Art Of Dance Article 23072010
What are we trying to do…
Keep alive the dream by keep on street dancing so here is our video’s and articles as we dance our way forward in life.
Following clip is the latest pop lock practise.
During practise we decided to video a pop lock routine using old and new styles and a bits of uprock. I am thinking of looking to get a new phone to take small clips and do a break down of moves, styles and combo’s used. Hopefully this will be a good effect as the current camera loses some quality so thinking of using the mobile camera to take some footage, maybe that way we can get more from other places where a bulky camera is a problem to set up. It would be handy as at times we have had some real good dances without a camera, we feel that a live dance would show us when we are in the zone, it certainly seems more lively when a crowd are around.

Street dancing where the road ends, can you guess where the dancing duo are?
Not all is at it seems the answer may surprise you.
Some times you come to a moment where it would be easier to stop, for some people at least, for others like us its far easier to carry on.
We are working on new ideas of music and dance.
A link for one of my good friends and sponsers.

US2K has an interest in music and dance industries, being a good Dj and unsigned artist.
US2K is also the web-master of the Rox Music and Arts charity.
Recently I bumped into US2K, the web-master of the Rox Music and Arts charity and found he is a very busy person. He mentioned to me that for a number of years he has been building a music website and related community,

Dance Beat Track
Dance Raw Beat 20s Version
![]()
Created by Poplock Paul for Street Dancing. Dance Raw Beat 20s Version is my first try using Reason 4 Software.
![]()
Starting as of 5th July 2010 I am heading in a different direction with this dance project, although I started in the summer of 1984 I have had reasons for stepping out of the dance world and over the years have changed my dance act.
![]()
This project started in May 2008 where I restarted street dance again to help my son and see how far I can go with it, and to date at the age of 47 in July 2010 I am still able to move pretty well.
![]()
The styles I cover are mostly stand up and no longer contain the breaking or down rock, its tempting to put those moves back in but I want to focus on stand up street dancing.
![]()
Styles I now aim to cover, newest is pop-rock, from popping to locking and rocking to jolting. Included is 90 degrees or tutting and various footwork including the uprock. Pointing Locking Action and mime locking also a couple of styles not to mention electric boogaloo.
![]()
There are a few other styles but you get the idea, I aim to dance differently to several different music tracks. From Hip hop to electro and music such as Run Dmc walk this way, Stronger by Kayne west and even mostly unheard of Crowd by Dj Bananaga.
This drum beat will be the start of some fresh content and hopefully with my Son Ben and Nigel we will piece together something to rock the world.
See you soon from Poplock Paul…

Melbourne Shuffle Used In Hip Hop
Melbourne Shuffle is still a useful resource for anyone interested in hip hop dancing. My favourite has to be the Urban hip hop, and yes I actually remember some of these moves and probably still do them in my current new style which I do try and update.
Melbourne Shuffle can be used in Hip Hop, maybe at several points as a build up or as a quick change to liven up the pace, but it can be used and I have seem seen several ways it can be implemented in hip hop and street dance routines.
I classify myself as a street dancer although I don’t spin on my back or do flips much anymore, I prefer to stay and do the flashier pop locking and boogaloo type dancing. Urban originated in New York with break dance and other old school hip hop styles in the 1970s and 1980s.
The style is a predecessor of locking and popping but evolved alongside them, it is less energetic and has more basic steps, and so is easier to learn.
The dance illustrated in great graphics on the Urban hip hop web page was performed to funk and old school hip hop music. The Melbourne shuffle was also included and you will find good pictures breaking down the dance routine, also a link to a couple of videos of this very interesting dance. This dance routine was invented by DJ Hess, and DJ Tate Strauss at Sanction Tuesdays in Melbourne Australia as a joke to make fun out of the overly expressive dances performed by the pop artists such as Vanilla Ice, during the acid warehouse party era in the late 80s 90s.
By 1992 it had evolved from a clumsy jump style to something more stylish in the form of a shuffle that fitted the electronic techno and rave music beats more appropriately. It is now a worldwide dance popular with listeners in the many nightclubs, festivals, and field events.

Rox In Bognor Postponed Till September
We had planned to do some dancing but now that has been postponed because:
THIS year’s Rox Music and Arts Festival in Bognor Regis has been dramatically postponed.
The weekend of live music was due to happen next month but will now be held over the 18th and 19th of September instead.
Mr Goodhart admits they will not consider doing what they did several years ago when they held the Rox festival outside Bognor Regis, at Fontwell. He said he was deternmined to make sure it stayed in the town.
We’ve getting all the contractors and all the people we need to make sure the event can take place. From security to first aiders, we’re building up an army of volunteers which is brilliant. Although July is completely different to September, the summer holidays are finished, so people will be back.
A Rox spokesman said: “We are moving the festival due to circumstances beyond our control. We have not taken this decision lightly.
The decision has been made because of the uncertainty which surrounds the intended location of the Royal Norfolk Hotel. The hotel has stayed shut since the 28th February.
The organisers of the free event have cancelled its original date
of July 24 and 25 with just six weeks to go.
Rox started in 1990 and was traditionally staged on The Esplanade in front of the pier. But a change was enforced after the 2001 event as the number of acts and spectators grew spectacularly.
After a period at Fontwell Park racecourse, as well as Bognor FC, Rox went back to the pier area in 2007 before it began to be staged in the grounds of the Royal Norfolk Hotel the next year.
Both that event and last year’s occasion went successfully to prompt a planned return this summer.
A revised licence application has been submitted to Arun District Council to enable Rox to go ahead on its new dates.
They have shifted the popular occasion to September 18 and 19. The festival will remain on Bognor seafront.
Plan B is the seafront. We’re working with the local authority, the police etc, so that the community can have its free community party again.
The festival will remain on Bognor seafront but the exact location has not been revealed as talks are ongoing.

How To Create A New Dance Routine
How to create a dance routine.
I would like to take you through my process of how I come to create a dance routine at my studio. The first thing I do is decide what style of dance I’m going to be centering my choreographing on.
Is it going to be wavy and fluid or pop locking and hard or a mixture?
Is it for a younger child or an older class?
Then I pick what style of music I would like to do. Since often times I’ll be listening to the song quite a bit, I try to pick something that I enjoy and I think the audience will also enjoy. From that point forward I decide how many people will be in the combination. Is it a solo for just one person?
Concentrating on foot work and using an 8 count. You can add pop locking later if required, learn to dance then add the pop locking.
Pick out a song that has a strong beat to make it easier to put steps to.
Decide on an opening pose.
Choose the way you will be standing when the music begins.
Plan steps in counts of 8.
8-counts are easiest to fit steps to.
Plan the steps for the chorus.
Perform the same sequence of steps each time the chorus is played. This will make the routine interesting by adding repetition.
Decide on a finishing pose.
Strike a strong pose on the last notes of the song.
Practice.
The more you practice, the better your routine will be.
Tips:
Choose your best, most striking moves for the chorus.
Use familiar steps that you are confident in performing.
Hold your finishing pose for at least a few seconds.
Memorize the steps in relation to the words of the song, to make it easier to remember.

Bognor Street Dancer Update
I dance when ever possible but it is hard to find the room or time, and as I have two dancers I teach it is even harder to get together and get some decent practice time in.
You can find them dancing the latest in our recent video:
humantank1 — 24 May 2010 — Me and Nigel dancing with our mystery guest popper. If you want to dance in Bognor or Littlehampton contact us:
Despite that it is hard to get a group of people together it is worth it, we aim to do charity and develope new skills in producing our own rap, music and dance moves.
I also get the chance to add in Martial Art moves as I no longer teach main stream self defence although I have put together doormen courses to practise the SIA approved restraints and ways of dealing and ejecting trouble makers.
We have started off well this year but with the heat we have been hit by apathy, a lot of people have said they want to be in a video but rarely do they turn up, only dedicated people are going to make it in the harsh world of dance.
Being persistent in practice and dedicated to following through as well as couragous in performing in front of often complete strangers takes a lot of character, so many people fall by the wayside.
We have got better and I wonder what we will look like in a years time or even in a couple of months.
Every so often we get a new move or an idea and we go with it, with the latest idea and choreography we have even better routines and some good looking moves, so this year might rock better than we had hoped. We are aiming to post a new, stronger and better video by the end of June 2010.
Keep the dream alive keep on dancing.
